The Rare Candy XL (Japanese: ふしぎなアメXL Mystery Candy XL) was introduced in the mobile game Pokémon GO. It can be only obtained after player reaches level 40. It is a type of candy that was introduced in Generation VI. Rare Candy XL is more advenced version of regular Species Specific Candies XL.
It has one counterpart: Rare Candy.
Usage
General Usage
The Rare Candy XL can be used when the player reaches level 40. It turns the Rare Candy XL into a Pokémon Species's Candy XL that it was used on. Candy XL can also be obtained by exchanging 100 Pokémon Species' Candies >>> 1 Pokémon Species' Candy XL. Rare Candy XLs are used for powering up a Pokémon higher than Level 40.

Obtaining Methods
The Rare Candy XL can be obtained through Leveling Up, Completing certain Level-specific Challenges, and participating in special events. This item is rare. Until the 26th of February 2022 at the Pokémon GO Tour: Johto it was only possible to get 31 Rare Candy XL in the whole game.
Though leveling up
The Rare Candies XL can be obtained only through Leveling Up from level 41 to level 50. When the player reaches Level 45 or Level 50, Pokémon GO rewards players with 2 extra Rare Candy XL (instead of one).

As you can see, the Rare Candy XL can be obtained as a final reward. In every Level-Specific Challenge is Rare Candy XL as a reward. Except for the Level 48 Challenge, in every other Challenge, the game rewards the player with 3 or more Rare Candies XL. In the final Level-Specific Challenge, the Level 50 Challenge gives the player the most of any Level-Specific Challenges - 10 Rare Candies XL.
Though special events
Pokémon GO Tour Johto
Rare Candy XL can also be obtained through beating three and five-star raids. Rare Candy Xl was impossible to get from One Star Raids. This item through this method can only be obtained on the 26th of February 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. Both three-star and five-star raids give different amounts of Rare Candies XL.
